vista very slow

My Vista is very slow
I just installed MS vista. I like the fetures but when i'm the browser I have noticed that the system is extremly slow. In some cases its unberiable. I'm ready to uninstall the application it runs so slow. Just need some ideas on what I can do to config the OS so that the speed is beriable. -- James Barker.

Hi all, I have very strange problem. I turn on my computer as usual and wait more than half an hour to start Vista in safe mode. I can't imagine how long I have to wait for normal mode. Everything works extremly slow in safe mode. I don't know why:/ I use Vista Bussines and it is first time when I have this problem

I am running Firefox 2.0.0.1 on Windows Vista (Ultimate, 32 Bit). On several websites loading pictures is very slow. If I open www.amazon.com the text is immediately there but it takes about 47s until all pictures are visible. When I use IE7 the website including all pictures is immediately visible.

It's slow on opening socket. "Slow" is like 3-4 seconds compare to less then a second on other PC's Sorry, been out of the group for a while. I'd start googling this issue, as it may be related to the IP stack changes in Vista. You should also try to get a Vista test box and see if you can replicate the problem

Very slow after upgrading from XP to Home VIsta Premium
Today I am trying unzip eclipse file (around 144 MB). Vista is taking long time and saying remaining 2 hour like that. After 2-3 minutes I stopped it. I then used another thirdparty zip application and it was unzipped in less than one minute. Why vista is so slow in unzipping the files. Any solution to improve this.

Everything runs very smoothly under XP but Vista is very very sluggish, although it's inconsistent - sometimes opening a program is as fast as would be expected, often times it's really slow (taking up to a minute). Likewise browsing the file system or copying files could be fast or it could be really slow.
